For the more adventurous, there are hiking trails situated in the mountains. Game on the farm is naturally
there. This area is best known for its mountain zebra. You can also see Oryx, Kudu, Steenbok, Damara Dik-dik,
Hedgehog etc. Listen to the sounds of hyena, jackal, leopard or even owls at night. Ask Absalom where the
walking trail starts. Stay on the walking trails and never walk alone. If you want to walk alone, ask
Absalom that he may check your return. We have everywhere cellphone reception. Take your
phone with you and phone us in case of an emergency. Always take enough water with you.
Your stay and your walking on the farm premises are on your own risk.
The walking trails
In the rainy season you can go to a river nearby and cool of in one of the waterholes. How
to get there? Drive back the last 3 km to the main entrance gate to Farm Eileen. Do not turn
right to Omaruru but turn left. After a couple of 100 meters you reach the river. Park your
car somewhere next to the road. Walk to your right, thus downstream. Do not turn left to the
windmill, there are no waterholes.
You can just sit back and relax in your camping chair and watch the waterhole build on
the lower plateau to the camping sites. This waterhole was built in August 2009 and wildlife
has adapted to this solar light at night. Kudus visit the waterhole during
the day. Just keep silent as they still feel unsave due to hunting on surrounding farms.
